Finding safe and affirming housing is a critical step for LGBTQIA+ survivors of domestic abuse. This section is dedicated to providing you with resources and options for emergency shelter and long-term housing solutions.


This section provides vital information on finding safe housing options specifically tailored for LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic abuse. You'll discover a directory of shelters and organizations that prioritize the unique needs of our community, offering safe spaces that are affirming and free from discrimination.


We understand that traditional shelters may not always meet the unique needs of our community, and that discrimination can create additional barriers. Here, you'll find organizations committed to providing inclusive and supportive environments, where your safety and well-being are prioritized. We aim to empower you with the information and connections needed to secure a stable and secure living situation, allowing you to rebuild your life free from abuse.


Emergency shelters for LGBTQIA people experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)


There is currently no single, nationwide database of shelters exclusively for LGBTQ+ domestic abuse survivors. However, here is a list of organizations that are dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, and can help connect them with safe housing and support services:


National Organizations & Hotlines:


  • The National Domestic Violence Hotline:

    • They can connect you with local resources, including shelters and support services.

  • National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP):

    • They work to address violence against LGBTQ+ people and can provide resources and referrals.

    • Specifically for LGBTQ+ youth, they offer crisis intervention and suicide prevention services, and can provide resources for safe housing.
